The problem Republicans have is that mainstream Republican Party policies are simply bad for America. Not surprisingly, this creates political pressure to abandon them, or not to ry them in the first place. Since they aren't tried, or thrown overboard when they are tried and failed, mainstream Republicans always have some person to blame, rather then blame their policies. Historically, that's why the party has often been content with the RINO's the establishment selects for them. In the case, of the present election, they know Mitt Romney will abandon them in a pinch, but when that happens, they know they will have an out. It will be Romney's fault, rather then the policies. Ideological purity will continue as if untested.

The most recent example is the Bush years. It would be hard to find a better historical example of the complete failure of the Republican theory of government and politics then what occurred between 2001 and 2009. Or of the success of Democratic policies which have brought us back from the brink.

It is the central irony of the politics of 2012, that the party that destroyed American jobs by the million when last in power, is now complaining about the slowness of a recovery which they have worked pretty hard to obstruct.

Hiram: Romney or Obama? Don't give me contortions and/or political gymnastics. A straight thumbs up or thumbs down on one or the other. No diatribe. The question on the ballot, after all, isn't what you THINK, but who you prefer. Or, will you, true to form, weenie out and go third party?
