Here's the more interesting and indeed, crucial question: How many people understand that if the current US federal tax rate was raised to 100% on everybody, with no deductions, we wouldn't come close to closing this year's federal deficit? Oh, it would be fair, with everybody paying exactly the same percentage, but what consolation would it be?

if Federal taxes on "the weatlhy" were indeed raised significantly, would Governor Dayton drop his own demand, content to know that [social] justice was finally being done?

No, it's not really a question of fairness, it's a question of where the money is. If the rich want to pay less in taxes, maybe they should give more thought to lowering their salaries, and perhaps raising the wages of those they employ.
